Just when you thought summertime was over and it was finally safe to tuck your tush cheeks safely back into fuller outfits—read: ensembles other than bathing suits—butt contouring is here. And yeah, it's exactly what you'd imagine it to be. Celebs and regular butt-showers alike are using the same techniques Instagram makeup artists use on faces to use darker and lighter shades of makeup to butt cracks, creases, and even dimples. Why? Because this is where art, technology, and tushies finally collide, and we tin can thank celebs like Ariel Winter for making this a widespread thing.

Ariel is undoubtedly gorgeous without whatever butt contouring, but a recent photoshoot led her on-set makeup creative person to upwards the butt dues with a hearty dose of rear-focused contour. So, nosotros decided to chat with celeb makeup artist Jessika Bekteshi to get the scoop on exactly how a normal gal tin replicate the look at home (no judgments, you lot practise whatever you want with your butt).

"As a painter I use a cool deep taupe-ish regal shade mixed with a dash of granny smith apple green to get a natural shadow. I would apply that same idea to the face without the green," she explains. Manifestly that slight green-ish tint is what gives a more natural looking shadow to the lower butt creases, or the ones you're trying to create. Apply the shade "right on the crease and on the thigh right below the thigh connecting the derriere to the leg. The easiest way for someone to do it on themselves would be a foundation stick."

She recommends an easy-to-piece of work-with, deep-hued foundation stick that contrasts well with your own natural skin tone. Endeavor something affordable similar NYX Mineral Stick Foundation till you go the hang of exactly how to apply and blend your extra-curricular contour.

"Making sure to pick the correct shade so it's deep enough to look like a natural shadow is key. You lot can and so prepare it with a translucent setting power and for extra long wear follow with a setting spray," explains Bekteshi. "Just make sure you blend well."

Because honestly, is at that place anything worse than a poorly contoured barrel total of makeup?
